Tucked away in the lush green piece of land, surrounded by the gorgeous Aravali range is this awesome resort called The Royal Retreat. Many moons ago we discovered this haven.
The touristic instinct in us was absolutely satisfied and it was love at first sight or rather 'stay' I should say. The regal rooms decorated with antique style furniture and paintings, the impeccable service staff and oh the mouth watering food are the highlight of this Royal experience. The mornings are cheerful with sounds of chirping birds and sumptuous breakfast. The evenings at the upper pool (yes, they have many pools with distinctive different styles) are almost ethereal. Exotic bar on one side and a Machaan - Beautifully colored scaffolding that is usually created to spot the wild ,on the fag end. And wait, there is more. If you are lucky you just might spot leopard coming down from the surrounding hills of Aravali to greet you. The whole ambience is just too breathtakingly beautiful
The latest feather in the cap is the EnigmaRestobar. The architecture and design is a Heady mix of Ethnic and Modern The ditto for the Cuisine. All in all a place to be visited again and again to calm and exhilarate your tired souls

Being avid travellers and resort life connoisseurs, my husband and I have traveled to more than 35 countries and stayed at innumerable resorts. But, only one has made us feel like home yet given us a taste of luxury, art and culture. And that is, The Royal Retreat Resort & Spa, Udaipur. The sprawling property is home to hundreds of artefacts and brimming with culture and art. The smallest details like the artsy door knobs to the largest details of the multiple, sparkling pools, this resort is epitome of class and luxury. Every rock here has a purpose of beauty. The staff is courteous and the food is lip smacking. We have been visiting this resort each year for the past seven years and every year the level of hospitality and the experience just keeps getting better and better. Mr Dushyant Periwal the owner of the property, along with his lovely Mrs Ayesha leave no stone unturned into making this property one of the best in India. We cannot wait to be back.
